Chocolate Topped Toffee Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup finely chopped peanuts optional

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla.
  2. Add flour, mixing well. (This is very sticky dough).
  3. Spread dough in a greased 9x13-inch baking pan. Bake in a 350° pre-heated oven for 18 to 20 minutes.
  4. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with the chocolate chips.
  5. Wait about five minutes then spread the chocolate over the top evenly.
  6. Sprinkle with nuts. Cut into squares when cool.
