Easy to make, delicious dessert! This bar recipe has a shortbread bottom layer topped with pecans, caramel, and chocolate!

Caramel Butter-Pecan Bars

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup cold butter
  • 1 1/2 chopped pecans
  • 1 jar 12 ounces caramel ice cream topping, warmed
  • 1 package 11 1/2 ounces milk chocolate chips

  1. In a bowl, combine flour and brown sugar; cut in butter until crumbly.
  2. Press into an ungreased 13" x 9" x 2" baking dish.
  3. Top with pecans. Drizzle caramel topping evenly over pecans.
  4. Bake at 350° for 15-20 minutes or until caramel is bubbly.
  5. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Let stand for 5 minutes. I will sometimes cover the pan with a bigger cookie sheet to keep the heat from escaping so that the chocolate chips will melt.
  6. Carefully spread chips over caramel layer.
  7. Cool at room temperature for at least 6 hours or until chocolate is set.
  8. Cut into bars.
