This week was our Vacation Bible School, so it was the perfect time to finally have over some friends that my girls have been asking to have over all summer long. We live close enough to our church to walk to it; so after VBS, my children and their friends could just walk home together.
When friends come over, I like to have a little activity planned so I decided to try some edible play doughs that I had just found on the internet. I made both an edible chocolate play dough and an edible peanut-butter play dough. They were both very sweet, but they did taste good! The girls practiced much self-control and ate only a little bit of it! I also took some great pictures–which disappeared from my dying camera. 🙁 So I have very limited pictures for this post.
I gave each girl a square of wax paper to put their edible play dough on while they played with it. When they were done playing with it, I folded up their wax paper with the play dough inside of the it, and then put both the wax paper and play dough in a ziploc bag so that they could take it home with them.
The chocolate play dough was a little more sticky than the peanut butter play dough, so I sprinkled some flour on the wax paper and on top of the chocolate play dough and that seemed to take care of the problem. If it started to get sticky again as they played with it, I just sprinkled more flour on it.
The play dough would flatten out very nicely, and they could use cookie cutters to cut out shapes. It was a fun activity, and I had all the ingredients in supply, so that was an added bonus!
To make these recipes, I just put all of the ingredients in a bowl and used a hand mixer until the dough was smooth.
Here are the ingredients for the recipes!
