There are many circumstances in life that are humbling and show you your need of an Almighty God to help you.
Being a parent daily reminds me of how I need the Lord’s help. Each day is new with new challenges that I have not had to experience before. Each child is different and reacts to life differently than their siblings did.
Being a pastor’s wife is definitely humbling. I don’t have all the answers. I am a sinner like everyone else. I need the Lord’s help and guidance and leading for what to say (and for what not to say.)
In Wednesday night’s prayer meeting, my husband shared Moses’s prayer to God found in Exodus 33 for his prayer challenge.
12And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.
13Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.
14And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
15And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.
Verse 15 was the main thrust of the message. Moses said to God, “Go with us, or we do not want to go!” He knew without God’s presence, they would fail. And so it is true in every person’s life. We will not succeed fully or where it really matters if we are lacking His Presence. I need it every day. I need to be in daily communication with Him so that His Spirit and His power are evident in my life.
I love how God tells Moses in verse 14, “My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.” God will give us His presence if we desire it like Moses did. When we have His presence, we can also have the blessed rest that only He can give. Peace comes from being in God’s presence.
Consider this quote:
“Safety consists not in the absence of danger but in the presence of God.”
