Coronavirus has been the all-consuming topic.
School has been postponed; kids are home; play dates are cancelled. Many parents still have to work at home while trying to have kids do online schooling.
I’m sure that there will be many frustrations; however, staying healthy is the main focus.
I remember a homeschooling mom once tell me, “Every homeschooling mom has 3 main responsibilities: cook for her family, clean the house, and homeschool her children. I find I can only do two well. Something has to give. I have to teach my children most days, so that either means the house is a mess or my family doesn’t get a great meal. I make something easy, something frozen.”
That is what most homes will be like for the next few weeks. Most parents will have to make sure their kids get their schoolwork done while they may be trying to get their workplace job done at the same time. They might not have time to make lunches or great dinners for their families.
The great thing about having kids do their work at home is that they usually are able to get their schoolwork done much quicker than if they were at school. Then they will need something to do with their time. Have them help make the meals! Or have them make their own lunch and snacks. There are many things that they can actually prepare!
Not only will this reduce your workload, but it will teach them valuable skills. Every kid needs to be able to cook!
