Some fantabulous bloggers have gone together to do a Fantabulous St. Patrick’s Day Favorites Linky Party!
The hosts of this blog hop have their posts linked up to the beginning of the linky at the bottom of this post. You can link up your own St. Patrick’s Day posts below, and we will pin many of them to our Pintabulous Mom’s St. Patrick’s Day Favorites Pinterest Board.
We have been having fun the past couple of months thinking up new Minute to Win It games. It all started with the Christmas Minute to Win It games that we played for an adult Christmas party. That post has become my top pin on Pinterest and my most viewed post here on Creative K Kids.
Last month, we played some Valentine Minute to Win it games, and that post also was received very well.
Currently, you can see my new Spring (Easter) Minute to Win it Games!
When I started trying to come up with Minute to Win It games for St. Patrick’s Day, I did not think I would be able to come up with many; but in the end, we came up with many games–and we thought they were very fun to play! Here they are!
- Stack the Peppermint Patty Game: See how many Peppermint Patties you can stack on top of each other before they fall. We timed the girls for a minute and whoever had the highest stack when the minute was done was the winner.
Scoring: 5 points for the winner; 3 points for participation
- Lucky Charms Game: See how many marshmallows they can fish out of a bowl of Lucky Charms with a spoon. They cannot use their fingers. A reader on Creative K Kid’s Facebook page came up with this idea! Thank you so much–the girls had a lot of fun with this game.
Scoring: 5 points for the one with the most marshmallows; 3 points for participation
- Luck of the Irish game: Play a game of war that only lasts one minute. We played this with my grandma when we visited her in the nursing home. Her dementia makes it so that she cannot play many games, but she got this game! This game is pure luck. Have one person participate for each team. Give everyone a stack of cards face down. (You can use Skip-Bo cards or playing cards. Take the Skip-Bo cards out of the deck if using Skip-Bo cards.) Everyone turns over a card at the same time. Whoever has the highest value wins all the cards of that turn. If two people have the same highest value, we just put those cards back in the deck. Continue turning over one card at a time until the minute is over. Whoever has the most cards at the end of the minute wins the game.
Scoring: 5 points for the one with the most cards; 3 points for participation
- Three leaf clover game: Give one person from each team a sheet of three leaf clovers. See who can cut out the most clovers in a minute. I told them they didn’t have to cut out the stem. (Printable)
Scoring: 5 points for the one with the most clovers cut out; 3 points for participation
You can use this printable for this game:
- Saint Patrick’s Day Word Scramble–teams can work together. See how many words they can make out of the letters SAINT PATRICK’S DAY in one minute. (Printable)
Scoring: 5 points for the one with the most words; 3 points for participation
You can use this printable for this game:
I cannot take off the 2nd blank page for some reason. - Cabbage Leaf Game: Have one person from each team participate. Give each team a head of cabbage. Have them take off one leaf of cabbage at a time. See how many leaves of cabbage they can take off in a minute.
Scoring: 5 points for the team with the most leaves; 3 points for participation
- Irish Rhyming Word Game: I read that Irish children’s games include classic rhyming, chanting and clapping games, which are traditional throughout the United Kingdom. So I made up this printable where teams can work together to try to see how many rhyming words they can think of for each word that is listed. This game can be played 4 times if you wish– 1 minute for each word. The team with the most rhyming words wins. (Printable)
Scoring: 5 points for the team with the most rhyming words; 3 points for participation
You can use this printable for this game:
I cannot take off the 2nd blank page for some reason. - Face the Peppermint Patty Game: Have one person participate for each team (or let everyone do this at the same time). Place an unwrapped peppermint patty on your forehead and try to get it in your mouth without using your hands. My oldest girl was able to do it! If their peppermint patty dropped, they picked it up and put it back on their forehead. If you don’t like your food maybe touching the ground, then you would not want to play this game. (Usually they caught it or it landed on the table.) Also, as soon as they got one in their mouth, we said they won this game.
Scoring: 5 points if they got a peppermint patty in their mouth; 3 points for participation (If everyone does it, then 5 points if one person from their team got it in their mouth.)
- Some other favorite Irish games are darts and a ring toss game. So you could do Minute to Win It games using magnetic darts or a ring toss game if you have them. Here is what their ring toss game looks like.
- If you need another game, you could do the famous cup stacking game using green cups. We used 21 cups to build a pyramid. One person from each team can participate. You can watch the video HERE.
Scoring: 5 points if they accomplish the challenge; 3 points for participation
You can use the scoring sheet printable found on the Christmas Minute to Win It Games to keep track of each team’s points!

How fun!! We are totally doing this. My boys would love it. What a great way to incorporate it into an upcoming holiday.
Thanks! The kids had more fun with these games than the Valentine ones. Of course, they really enjoyed eating a couple of Peppermint Patties! 🙂
How fun. We always do crafts and food for St. Patrick’s day but I never knew any games! Thanks for the ideas.
My girls would love playing these games! And anything that distracts them from asking for screen time is great, in my opinion!
this so fun! Thanks for sharing!
What fun! Way to work in some learning too!
Tammy,
I love the Minute To Win It games. I also love the way you provide printable instructions. I’m scheduling to share this. I will be back next week to link up my St. Patty Day post. I have it finished, but I don’t want it to go “live” until next week end. Thanks for this fun opportunity. We will turn this page green. 🙂
