My kids love ice cream cakes for their birthdays.
I do not like the price of the ones you buy at bakeries or ice cream stores. I found this recipe in a Quick Cooking magazine that I used to subscribe to years ago! It is super easy, super delicious, and super cheap compared to the store bought cakes.
This cake can be made using a cake mix, but we love brownies more, so we like to make it the way the recipe says and use a brownie mix.
The sauce is also to die for, and my kids like it better than frosting. I usually cut the cake, give each person their serving of cake and then spoon some of the sauce over each piece. This way the sweets lovers can have more sauce, and those who don’t like their desserts as sweet can have less sauce or none. I then store the extra sauce in the refrigerator and warm it up for when we eat the rest of the cake so that we always have warm sauce– yum! Leftover sauce can also be used as an ice cream topping later.
