This year, we are all looking forward with great anticipation to spring.
With the polar vortex weather we have had and the snow that has been on the ground since November, we are ready for some warmth! And we had our first hint of it yesterday with temperatures that reached 47 degrees! It was like a heat wave! The icicles melted, there were reports of robins in the area! It gives great hope that our long winter will soon be over, although there was a new dusting of snow on the ground today. Whenever I contemplate our “long winter,” I think of Laura Ingalls’ book, The Long Winter; and I am so thankful that we have plenty of food and did not have to twist hay to burn.
Our last couple of weeks have been busy, but normal, weeks. I babysat almost every day Monday – Friday, but I was still able to get to Bible study on Friday morning. We are discussing the book Lies Women Believe and the Truth that Sets Them Free by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. The past week we studied the chapter Lies Woman Believe About Children. It was the most controversial chapter thus far as we did not all agree with everything in the chapter, but there were many great points in the chapter as well which were very convicting to me as a mom. I found it very interesting to find out that Nancy Leigh DeMoss has never been married. I will not go into any more detail, as I’ve started a new series of posts on Thursday called Thoughtful Thursdays where I discuss what I have been learning in my reading of the Bible, books, and from other inspirational sources, so I’ll probably say more on Thursday about what I did enjoy studying from the past chapter.
My husband and I were able to have a date night last Friday night. It was wonderful to be able to get alone and slow down for a couple of hours–we can pack a lot into a couple of hours! We ate at IHOP (we had a gift card). We also went grocery shopping and to a thrift store. Thrift stores are our idea of fun.
There was also a ladies meeting at our church on Tuesday night that I made puppy chow for.
Last night, were able to go see my niece in her last showcase concert at her school before Senior High Fine Arts Competition. She was in many areas, and it was great to be able to see her perform. I have included some videos of her band, handbells, and percussion ensemble as I know my sisters in South Africa and here in the States will want to see them, but you can see them also if you want to! Some of them are only pieces of songs as I forgot to bring my extra SD card. These videos are all unlisted on YouTube, so people cannot search for them, but they can see them if they have the link.
