I received a crafting kit just for kids called Pom-pom Pals: Animals for review. All opinions are my own, and affiliate links are included in this post.
I had no idea when I would be able to review this crafting kit as we are in the middle of getting ready to make our cross-country move. Fortunately, I took the kit with us when we went to visit cousins. The kids were planning to play outside, but it was raining all day long. So I pulled out this kit and helped a 7 and 8 year old girl make two of the pets. The kit came with everything you need to make 4 different pets: lion, penguin, monkey, and panda. The girls chose to make a lion and a panda.
They turned out adorable, but I do have to let you know that I needed to help them — a lot. If you want a craft that your children can do all by themselves, make sure they are older for this craft. A 10-11 year old may have been able to do more than my girls could do. It also took a long time — probably close to 2 hours. It would be a perfect craft for a mother-daughter time together or for grandmas to do with their grandchildren.
I loved that you could make 4 pals with the materials in the kit, but you could easily make many more by using the full-color simple step-by-step directions in the instruction booklet and getting more yarn and other supplies that you would need. The book also has fascinating facts about each creature. The kit has an included adoption certificate and a a press-out carrier.
FYI — the hardest part for me was cutting the big pom-poms. The girls wrapped the yarn themselves, but I cut the yarn to make the pom-poms. I felt like I was going to lose the yarn as I cut it, but both times, I managed to cut it and keep it all intact. Then, I was cautious about cutting the pom-poms at the beginning because I didn’t want to cut too much off. But I ended up cutting off quite a bit in different parts to make it resemble the animals we were making. In the end, they turned out cute, and the girls loved them!
