If you have read any of my posts this past week, then you know I have a lot of reviews and giveaways I have to get done.
I was not going to do this review as part of my Thoughtful Thursdays post, but it just worked out. I agreed to give my honest review this product called Kwik Stix which are Solid Tempera Paints in marker-like containers. Since I teach and I have five children, I knew I could definitely put them to use. I did not receive any compensation for this product.
I received them in the mail, and I knew automatically that I was going to love these Kwik Stix. I was supposed to include them in a Back to School post — and I still will — but since I teach the Wednesday night kids group at our church, and I am getting together the crafts for VBS, I knew I had a winner for all kids’ crafts — not just for school crafts.
As I started studying my lesson for Wednesday night kids’ group, I realized automatically how I could put the Kwik Stix to use. I was teaching on Moses and how he encouraged the Hebrews to have faith in God. We looked at Exodus 14, and how Moses told them to trust in God when they were discouraged. Exodus 14:13-14 says,
And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
We then applied this concept of encouragement to their lives by talking about how they needed to be a good friend to encourage their friends to do what is right, to be the Proverbs 17:17 friend: “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”
We also talked about how they can encourage others that are hurting by praying for them and telling them they are praying for them. For those who have helped them or done nice things for them, they can thank them. They can let others who have been sick know that they have not forgotten them and that they are praying for them.
After we were done with our lesson, we had a craft time where the kids made a praying for you card or a thank you card to someone they wanted to encourage this week. Thank you cards are not a new concept, and it might have been a boring craft except for the fact that I had the new product Kwik Stix with me!
The kids all loved using the paint markers. They had never used anything like it. The four year old was able to use them with no problem, and I heard a sixth grade boy saying, “I really like these!” The girls loved them, but I knew they would! They spent 20 minutes making their cards and had a great time — just because they had a new product. It was the easiest craft I think I have ever done. No stickers or stencils — just some white cardstock, Kwik Stix, and I had some colored pencils and markers that the kids could use for smaller writing.
I also love the vibrant colors of the Kwik Stix paints. It is paint without the mess, and they dry in no time! The box says within 90 seconds the paints are dry, but I felt like it was dry almost immediately. Anyway, I am so glad I had them for our encouraging card craft as the kids loved making the cards with these paints. Want to get your kids excited about doing some thank you cards?
