It’s super late, and I have a busy day tomorrow, so my thoughts will not be lengthy tonight (Wednesday). We have our house almost completely unpacked, but there is still a lot to do! My mom has made 2 sets of curtains, and I have found an area rug, new bookshelf and other items needed for our new house. My dad has hung many items and put together different items for us. It has been a marathon! I’m so thankful for my parent’s help as we would still have so much to do if they had not helped us.
My husband shared in our church’s prayer meeting tonight how we can have confidence that God hears our prayers. As Christians, we can know that we don’t have to “hope” that things will be okay or that when things go well, that we are just lucky. God hears our prayers and when things work out well after we pray, it is not coincidence. He shared the story of how Eliezer, Abraham’s servant, prayed that the woman that is to marry Isaac would offer to give him and his camels water. Then Rebekah came along and offered to give him water and all of his camels. That was not “by chance.” This was an answer to his prayer!
As he talked, I thought how I had prayed for God to help us find a bookshelf for our house so we could finish unpacking our books, to find the right area rug for our living room, and something for us to put our shoes on by the front door. I googled for thrift stores in our area, and my mom, oldest daughter, and I went on a thrift store hunt one morning. As we were looking for one thrift store that we never found, we came across a boutique for furniture that was not on our list. It was the cutest little shop, and there we found a refurbished one-of-a-kind bookshelf and a chest for shoes. Both were unique and affordable! Then I looked in all the thrift stores, Walmart, Home Depot, and stopped at a couple of carpet stores looking for an area rug. I didn’t find anything I really liked. So I prayed that I would find an area rug so I didn’t have to take anymore time looking. Today, I had to go to JCPenney Optical to pick up my daughter’s glasses. We had to walk right by the home furnishings. So I decided to look at the carpets. I found one that was just the right color and size and very comfortable for a very affordable price! All of their carpets were 60 – 70% off as they were on clearance since Empire Carpet is coming right into the JCPenney store. Then the man scanned a coupon for 15% off the clearance price!
God cares even for our little concerns, and we can have confidence that He hears us. It was not coincidence that I did not buy carpets that weren’t the exact size I wanted on the other days. It was not coincidence that the two carpet stores I entered did not have area rugs. GOD KNEW! We can pray confidently expecting God to hear and answer according to His will!
