I am still trying to post our memories, but I am not catching up the previous months as fast as I wanted to.
We are finally to May’s memories. It feels weird to be posting about May now as we were still living in Illinois in May. But I do remember a lot about that crazy, busy month!
May was our last month teaching at our old ministry. I was the Kindergarten teacher, which meant that I was in charge of the Kindergarten graduation. We were also packing furiously to move and getting together with our friends. Being so busy kept me from being too emotional.
The first weekend in May, I took off school and watched Karis perform in the Illinois Association of Christian Schools Fine Arts Competition. I knew that since we were going to a small church school/homeschool this year, she would not have this competition experience for a while. There was no way I was going to miss it.
Karis participated in a singing group, Bible quiz competition, and a flute solo.
At school, we had our last field trip to the petting zoo, we made ice cream, we enjoyed playing outside as it was finally nice, and we had our last day of school fun. It all climaxed with the Kindergarten gradaution. It was a busy, crazy, and fun year.
We also had a going-away party from some of our closest friends, and our church gave us a going-away fellowship after Sunday night church.
We also made sure we got to a couple of our favorite parks and had some of the kids’ friends over.
Our family came in town for Memorial Day and we had fun with them.
We had our yearly “cousin’s birthday party” and celebrated Kristi’s real 9th birthday.
A family that had us over yearly wanted to have us over again one more time before we left, and my sister’s family, my parents, and really good friends were all able to come too. She had presents for all the kids!
We also went to Dave’s mom’s house a couple of last times and enjoyed time with them and played one last time in the creek by her house.
June’s memories will transfer us here to Florida! I can’t wait to show you those pictures.
