Many of you know that I made printables for Thanksgiving that our family used for family devotions, but would have been great for homeschooling or Sunday School purposes.
I started to think of what I could do for Christmas, and had a few ideas–but this is the only one I’ve been able to finish this year (and I probably won’t get any more done this year!)
I thought about doing a brief study with our children over the Old Testament prophecies regarding what God said would be true about the future Messiah and how that Jesus fulfilled those prophecies. I googled Old Testament prophecies about Jesus, and found this website that gave me 10 prophecies with all the references! That made my job a lot easier.
So I made the printables below, and there are a lot of ways you can use them.
- You can print the references on one side, and the verses on the other side, cut them apart, and discuss one prophecy and fulfilllment every night or over a meal.
- You can have the older kids play a game of memory with the cards trying to find the Old Testament verse that would match up with the New Testament verse. You will notice I put numbers on each of the Prophecy verses (Old Testament) and symbols on each of the Fulfillment verses (New Testament) and that I gave a symbol guide so that it is easy even for children to check and see if they matched them up correctly.
- For an adult Sunday School party we are having this weekend, I am only going to print the references–not the verses. We are going to have groups of people and give the groups one or two Bibles each (no smart devices allowed!), and see which group can find the correct matches the fastest. Yay! We always do games, and I was wondering what I was going to do this year as I was starting to run out of ideas. (We are also going to do a silly fruit loop game that should be fun!)
To print out these printables, just click on the printable and it will go to my google documents where you can print them out. Again, if you want the reference on one side and the verse on the other side, then you will have to feed the same piece of paper through twice–once for the front and once for the back. It worked for me; so hopefully, you’ll have no problems either.
Here are the printables for the first 8 prophecies:
Here are the printables for the eight verses that show how Jesus fulfilled those prophecies:
Here are the last two references/verses for the prophecies and the fulfillment of those prophecies. There is also the code to see easily which prophecy and fulfillment go together:
If you use these cards, I would love to know how you used them! Thanks for stopping by!
