T-ball has been a very important part of our lives for 8 years.
My husband grew up in a sports family. All six children in his family played Little League baseball or softball, played baseball and softball throughout high school for city leagues and for their public high school, and some still play in city leagues today although they are in their 30’s and 40’s. My husband’s team won the state competition his junior year of high school, and he could have received a scholarship for baseball.
We always knew that we would want our children to also participate in T-ball and also baseball or softball if they showed interest and ability. Our church has a T-ball and baseball league, and because they needed coaches, my husband became a T-ball coach.
T-ball is one of the most hilarious “sports” to watch. You have kids pulling up grass, sitting down on bases, running the wrong way, throwing the ball the wrong direction, having conversations with friends in the field instead of playing, and home run sprints by half of the team members to try to tag one person out at home. You must have coaches at 1st and 3rd bases to tell the kids when to run–or they won’t.
But the most important event of the game is, of course, . . .
As parents, we see how T-ball is encouraging children to work as a team, to follow directions, and to focus. We see vast improvements in their ability to hit a ball over only two months! We know it helps their motor skills, and it helps encourage an active lifestyle.
The kids just think it is fun, that they won the game (we don’t keep score, so both teams think they have won), and they want their snack!
Snacks are getting harder and harder to provide due to food regulations and allergies. Now many parents want the snacks store-bought to make sure it safe. Then allergies are so common that it is hard to know what to buy.
Enter a solution to our problem: Rice Krispies Treats®!
I was so excited that Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® sponsored this post as Rice Krispies Treats® is my favorite treat as a mom to bring when it is my turn to bring the snacks.
All-American Baseball + Rice Krispies Treats® go together!
Rice Krispies Treats® are packaged treats that kids love because they taste good; and parents love them because they are easy to bring as a snack, safe to eat, and avoid many common allergies such as nuts and gluten, although they do contain dairy and soy.
As my husband is the coach, it is my job to bring snacks to the first game. At that first game, the other parents will sign up to bring snacks the other nights. So I printed off some little stickers that I stuck to the top of the Rice Krispies Treats® to help the kids be excited about T-ball. My treats are ready for next week’s game!
We also do a picnic after our last game. I thought it would be cute to have a paper baseball tied onto the Rice Krispies Treats® that I personalized for all the children. I just printed off the baseballs, cut them out, punched a hole in the top of the paper, and used some red and white clothesline I had to tie on the baseballs. The Rice Krispies Treats® could be the centerpieces at a baseball party!
