Can you believe that I have made it into 2017 with our family’s memory pictures?
That is cause for celebration! Since we are almost into May, I’ll keep working on getting caught up.
January in Florida is sure different from January in Illinois! In fact, now that we have hit 90 degree weather (and it’s still April), I am missing January!
January turned out to be the perfect month to go visit parks and do a little fishing!
No fish were caught, but I don’t think they had the right bait. A fun time was still had by everyone.
Our little school went to an Armed Forces museum that was closing down for a field trip.
I love history, and this museum was terrific. It had so much stuff (for lack of a better word) since the beginning of our United States army days. Our guide was a Vietnam veteran, and he told us many stories of the wars that I had never heard before. It is sad that the museum had to close due to lack of money to keep it open. They sent all of the war costumes and letters and paraphernalia to other museums.
My favorite part of the museum was going into the Vietnam part of the museum as Dave’s dad fought in that war. They had a special part designated to the Green Berets which Dave’s dad was. Everything that the guide said about the Green Berets and what the museum said was what Dave’s dad had told us when he would talk about the war. As that is where Dave’s dad met his mom and where Dave was born, it was very neat to see and hear more about it.
Our baby also turned 6 years old; so technically, we have no baby anymore. She has lost three teeth, can read books, and help around the house. She is a big girl now.
She had a rainbow cake at home for her special dessert and homemade ice cream sandwiches for her school treat. She also had seen a monofin somewhere on the internet and asked to get one for her birthday. She was so happy to get it as a present and new roller skates. Now she is after me to make a mermaid tail for her!
She also went out on a date with daddy for her birthday, so that was special for her.
In the month of January, we also had fun going to Upward basketball games every Saturday for three of the kids. It had such a positive impact on our kids.
I had only my old cell phone to take pictures with, so I didn’t get any really good shots. Dave took the picture in the middle with his phone, so that was much better.
January is the only month where two of our kids have birthdays in the same month. Joshua turned 8 at the very end of the month.
He got some new basketball shoes and a new Bible — something he had been wanting for a long time. He had a brownie ice cream cake at home and store-bought ice cream sandwiches at school for his special treat. Our family loves ice cream!
And here a few miscellaneous pictures.
The kids’ choir sang in church in January, and I had to take some pictures of our youngest doing school work. She’s only in Kindergarten once!
