I had the opportunity to review the cookbook Vegan Beans from Around the World: 100 Adventurous Recipes for the Most Delicious, Nutritious, and Flavorful Bean Dishes Ever. It is a cookbook of recipes that are obviously vegan and have beans in all of the recipes. I have received offers to review other books, but this really intrigued me as I have gotten to like beans more and more as I get older, and I know that beans are supposed to be very nutritious. I had never had green smoothies until a little bit over a year ago. I was amazed at how good they were! We had them every day for a while, and then we stopped. But my husband was just in a Biggest Loser Competition, and we started having them again every day for lunch.
There are so many different combinations that you can do when you make smoothies! I even started my own “smoothie” Pinterest board! If you go HERE, you can click on the fruit or vegetable you want to include, and it will give you a recipe for a smoothie having those ingredients. [Read more…]

My sister’s in-laws shared this chocolate chip recipe with her; and she shared the recipe with all of us! What a great sister!

Tonight, we are having a Ladies meeting/activity at my church. We are all supposed to bring a snacky item that is salty or sweet, so my mom called me to let me know that she is bringing Chex Mix as we think alike sometimes and will bring the same item.
Well, I thought what would be better than the sweet counterpart of the salty Chex Mix than what we call Puppy Chow (and is also sometimes called Muddy Buddies)!
Now some people love salty, and some love sweet. I am a sweets lover, and one of my downfalls is Puppy Chow. I find it highly addictive, so I rarely make it.
It’s easy to make and a great snacky food for a party or a get-together. If you don’t already have the recipes, here they are; and I would love it if you leave me a comment letting me know if you are a salty lover or a sweets lover when it comes to food! [Read more…]

Now, our family does not eat salmon normally, because that is too expensive to be included in our food budget. So I put three bags in the freezer and immediately defrosted one bag for Sunday dinner.
I love cooking fish for a great Sunday dinner after church as it cooks so fast! Combined with my freezer mashed potatoes that were in the oven warming up during church and a bag of corn, I had a relatively simple dinner! [Read more…]
